Harvey is a star

Harvey Moon has been with us for four weeks now and he has come a long way in that time. He has grown in confidence and likes nothing better than to play with Elsa. When she has had enough she gives a bit of squeal and then Blake moves in and warns him off. Then it is Harvey turn to squeal "It wasn't me, honest Blake - she started it." Then he and Blake have a friendly tussle, usual Blake lands up on his back with Elsa nibbling at his feet and Harvey trying the Dracula bite! But they do it all in good fun. He travels very well in the car, either on the back seat or in the rear and is happy to curl up there whilst we shop etc. He has found his bark, mainly copying Elsa I think and he has found Twix the cat! He can stare at her for ages but she treats him with utter distain, so he is a bit confused Like a lot of dogs, he is not keen on fast moving cars when we are walking through the village, but is great on lead once we are in the field. We are working on the car thing and I think there is an improvement. All these things take time and patience.

We had four visiting grandchildren and parents over the week-end (aged 12, 11, 11, and 9) and I wondered how Harvey would be but I can say that he was absolutely brilliant. He was not fazed by having so many people about - all the more people to cuddle him. He seemed quite in his element. We were very proud of him.

Harvey is a wonderful little chap and really deserves his very own home. I amazed at how well he has settled here and I think as long as he has lots of love - cuddles are his speciality - , he will settle in a new home very well.

After seeing Jessie off to her new home I was introduced to Charlie. He is a lovely boy, but does have a little problem with cars.

It took us about an hour to get him into the back of the car when I collected him from Wiccaweys the other day. However once he was in he was no problem all the way home.

He must have had some bad experiences in the past because he certainly does not like being in confined spaces.

I thought I would try to help him overcome his fears by leaving some treats in the back car and seeing what happened. At first he wouldn't go near it, but eventually when he thought I wasn't looking he couldn't resist anymore.

Apart from that he is so well behaved, and very friendly. He gets on well with all the other dogs he has met on his walks so I hope it won't be long before he gets his forever home.

His photo on the website does not do him any favours so I have taken this to show just how handsome he is.

Another step forward.

I wasn't planning on doing an update yet but Mack has just done something great. A short while ago Mack had the chance of a home in the country but he failed the horse test, the lady who came to visit him was very upset that she couldn't adopt him but he kept trying to bite Sarah's horses and as the lady had horses she couldn't take a chance. :-(
We have just had an hour on the fields near home and there are a number of horses there belonging to travellers, as usual Indy and Mack had matching rubber toys and Mack's one went very close to a horse! Mack walked slowly up to the horse, gave it a glance and then picked up his toy and walked away. :-) This is not to say that Mack would like to live with horses but it is another giant step forwards.
For the rest of our walk Mack was his old self, excited, playful, lively and as usual he wanted whichever toy Indy had and sometimes he wanted both! ;-) (See picture)

Has Mack turned a corner?

When we walk our dogs we always get at least one person comment on how they love to watch them or how well behaved they are, this morning Julia was stopped by a man who asked if he could stroke the dog. He said "I have seen him around and was struck by how well behaved he is" Was it Luca or Indy that he was talking about? No! it was Mack!! Mack has started getting attention for being well behaved! We are both so proud of how far he has come, we still have to be alert as only last night he jumped into the road to eat a car! but if you pay attention when walking on streets he is a real pleasure to walk. When we go to the fields we take 2 matching toys, one for Indy and one for Mack (Luca doesn't need a toy as he is busy looking for anything edible)! Mack gets excited and bounces and plays like a puppy but hasn't mouthed or acted daft for several weeks now. When Mack gets adopted and is able to play off lead he will be a joy to watch as he really enjoys running, bouncing and playing with other dogs, it is a shame to have to restrict him to a long line. :-(

I have been pottering in the garden today and Mack has just flopped in the sun and watched me, no attempts to re-dig the garden for me as he did earlier this year. :-)

Mack has decided that he loves to tumble and wrestle with his foster brothers and despite getting one of Indy's "special smiles" for nipping too hard, he will still take them both on at once.

Link to some more tumble videos.

The Girls have gone !!!

Good Luck Treasure, Mia and Meg in your new homes, hope you all have lots of fun and games.
Well these girls may have only been with us for 24 hours but we certainly know about it.........the kitchen looks like a building site, we have mud splattered up to the ceiling and my newly planted tubs of winter pansies are no more !! I think they caused more chaos than all the other pups put together !!! But it was lovely to see them all go off today with their respective families and for me thats definitely my quickest fosters ever. Well done Treasure, Mia and Meg, you are all such gorgeous girls.

The girls have arrived!!

These three beauties, Treasure, Mia and Meggie arrived at Wiccs today at 4am and a few hours later were running around our garden stretching their lovely long legs, none the worse after their long journey. They are lovely and haven't stopped charging around the garden yet despite the rain. Neil said " I thought we were having a break ?". I replied "we have, a week !!" I didn't think that it would be long until we had the patter of tiny paws again.
Somehow I think that these gorgeous, happy girls will not be with us for long and these could be my shortest fosterers to date.............watch this space !!
