Tricky DICKIE Donut !!!

The scrummy DICKIE donut is still waiting for his forever home. I cannot believe that he has been with us for nearly six months !!!!  As you can see Dickie has a very laid back attitude towards life and likes his home comforts, but he also loves his games and is extrememly lithe and fast.  He is housetrained and doing well with his "recall" and "sit" commands.  Dickie loves everybody and is great with people, dogs, cats, joggers and cyclists.  The only thing that he is not keen on is being left totally on his own, this worries him, but when left with our other dogs he is absolutely fine so he would like to live with another doggy friend.  Dickie is just such a little darling but he really does need to move out and into his own place !!

Minnie Kelpie

Kelpie x Minnie is still looking for her very own family to love & enjoy. She has been to dog training for 4 weeks now and is starting to ask for fuss from strangers and wags her tail at other dogs and their handlers as they pass by.  She can walk to heel (mostly) sit and lay down, do on lead puppy recall and can stay still whilst I walk round her !!
In the fields her recall is good but she still stops 3 feet from you unless she is trailing baler twine then she will come closer

Dickie's Day Out

We took " DICKIE DONUT" out for the day to a Steam Rally/Heavy Horse Show at nearby Hollowell, and he was a star. There was lots of mud, people, more mud, horses, dogs, bands, more mud, tractors, traction engines, fun fair .......and yes you've guessed it, more mud !!! Dickie just took everything in his stride and wasn't phased by anything. Lots of people made a fuss of him but no one could guess his breed. I could have raised some money by holding a " guess my parents " competition !!!.
The funniest thing was when a lovely little boy asked me whether he could touch Dickie, so I knelt down and introduced Dickie to him and Dickie loved this and gave some of his special bum wiggles. Then his hormones kicked in and he felt the urge to " hump" this little boy !!. The boy had no idea what was happening and in all innocence turned to his mum and said " Dickie wants me to give him a piggy back" !!! priceless. Mum and I laughed before Dickie was moved swiftly on.
I had a lovely time being kissed by this gorgeous young collie. He is actually one of my very first foster pups, Flinty Boy, who was with us two years ago and started the whole process of puppy fostering. To say that he was pleased to see me was an understatement as he kissed me all over and covered me in muddy paw prints, but it was fantastic to see him and his family.
It is quiet here tonight as Dickie is lying full stretch on the settee, snoring away, bless him. He was such a good boy and a pleasure to take out.
I think he'll sleep well, sweet dreams xxxx
