Lacey has been good day and had several "chill"out times which worked well. AS you can imagine she loved all the pressies, people, treats, food etc. She did get a bit carried away at times with all the excitement of the day and a few folk had a nip or two......just practising her collie skills.

Well so far today she has paddled in the pond, found a long dead bird in the garden and rolled in it , had great fun running around the garden with a big fat juicy worm in her mouth and has discovered that she can get in and out of the cat flap.......only just, its a tight squeeze but this has kept her amused for ages.So yes, she is full of fun and mischief
She has met quite a few folk, the vet for her injections, our neighbours, a couple of freinds and my parents and she has been ......awful to them all , she has got them wrapped well and truely around her little paws and has smothered them all in kissess , they simply can't get enough of her and she seems to love people..........and Lacey and Bobbie were curled up together earlier

Lovely Lacey

This is the lovely LACEY who has come home with me. She is about 14 weeks old and is certainly a live wire which is why I suspect she has ended up in a rescue centre at such a young age. She is simply gorgeous and a typical puppy, into everything. She is certainly very bright and you can see her working things out. We have had to have a quick tidy up and move everything out of her reach. I have already caught her half way up the Christmas tree so I can't see the tree lasting much longer.

She loves her cuddles, plays happily and gives such gentle kisses. She has fallen in love with Bazra and follows him everywhere whilst Bobbie watches them from a distance........if "looks could kill!".

Lacey just seems to be a real poppet and has settled in well taking everything in her stride

PADDY + BILL ADOPTED

Brilliant News................PADDY and BILL have been adopted !!!!! and what is also so amazing is that they have been adopted TOGETHER.

Our house is certainly quiet without them, but we are so thrilled for these lovely boys, who found themselves together when they came into our home and we couldn't have wished for a better outcome. Although there is a large age difference they both compliment each other. Bill provided a steady influence on young Paddy who could sometimes feel a bit worried and Paddy gave Bill a new lease of life and they had just started to play with each other. Mind you Bill could not keep up with Paddy's footballing skills !!
So for the two boys to remain together is just brilliant.
Be good boys and be gentle with your new little sisters !! Have lots of fun filled days together.
We really enjoyed having you both in our home and every day you made us laugh and gave us so much love and sloppy kisses.

Bill and Paddy updates

This is BILL who has now made a full recovery and has decided that he is going to grow old "disgracefully" !! He never ceases to amaze us and at the moment seems to be going through his second "puppyhood". He is certainly a ladies man and has decided that he loves to play with the girls. He adores my own Bobbiegobs and my neighbours collie Jess...he just can't get enough of them and has a real spring in his step when out walking with them. Today he decided that he needed to impress them with his aftershave " eau de fox poo" !!! which he proudly wore around his face. We discovered that he can give his paw when asked and when he is feeling clever or thinks that he may get two treats he will give both his front paws at once and wobble about. He is such a character and a lovely boy, a real sweetheart. Here is Paddy pup, growing rapidly and enjoying life. He is such a clown and makes us laugh every day. He has such an enchanting personality and is such fun. Everybody who meets him just loves him. Paddy loves football and turns into "Paddy Possessed" when he sees a football and he plays a real mean game as he is so fast and nimble and easily outpaces us and his team mates Bobs and Baz. He is a little ray of sunshine.

But they are both still waiting for their forever homes, both lovely boys, both so different but they get on brilliantly.

Mack has an epic week!

Earlier in the week we had a heating engineer come to the house, I took Mack to the bedroom so as not to stress him. After a while it became obvious we could be up there forever so we came down, Mack walked into the kitchen without even looking at the big stranger despite the engineer clomping around and banging radiators!. I took the boys for a walk and when we returned Mack went straight to the kitchen and ate his dinner!

Today When the postman brought some parcels, I was upstairs so didn't see him coming, HE RANG THE DOORBELL!!! Mack didn't bark?! he didn't do anything?! Julia opened the door and Mack did one little gruff and that was it.

Mack is doing a great job of being normal.

Bill is better

Bill has been back to the vet today for his check up following his recent operation and he passed with flying colours. The wound has healed well and Bill is much better in himself, eating well and enjoying his walks across the fields. He certainly has a spring in his step and greets everyone with a lovely wag of his tail. We have discovered that Bill's first and only love is.......food! I'm sure he just thinks about it all day long and he has a very healthy appetite and will eat anything and everything put in front of him, including fingers as he hasn't quite got the hang of taking treats "gently". But it is lovely to see him better and he is such a pleasure to have around, a real gentleman. Well done Bill.

Paddy Pup Update

Paddy pup has now been with us for a couple of months and he is still waiting for his new home........why ? goodness knows , as he is such a character. I know he may not look like a "typical" collie with his elongated snout he certainly has an endearing personality. We affectionately call him "snozzle" and that nose gets him into all sorts of mischief. First of all we can see him coming as the "snout" appears first, especially when he is coming around the corner. He often misjudges the end of his snout and gives some very interesting kisses as a result!! and today he managed to demolish the cat flap by sticking his snout through and then trying to follow , ................little did he realise that Iora the cat was waiting for him, claws at the ready, ouch!!!.

Paddy is such a happy boy and he loves nothing better than being with you, he is a real cuddle monster and we have never had a grumble from him. He plays a mean game of football, leaving the rest of them and us standing as he is so nimble and fast.

He just makes us laugh all the time and really is such a clown, BUT , he really needs to move on and brighten someone elses life up !..........we all need a little ray of sunshine in our lives.

Mack’s first holiday

Before our trip started we thought Mack would be ok but we never dared think that he would be great! Mack was remarkable, He met Indy’s dog family, new humans, sheep, cows and horses and was great with all of them. On several evenings our friend, Andrew would come down to the valley with his 7 dogs and come in the van for coffee and Mack stayed calm and would sit by Andrew with his head on Andrew’s lap. Not once did he act nervous. What a star.

We enjoyed the trip as much as Mack did he made it a real joy for all of us. It took 24 hours for Mack to accept the van as his new home but once he did he was relaxed and happy.

His meetings with new people and animals showed he has come a long way from his old nervous life. Mack became aware of vehicles sometimes but he was walking on single track lanes with no path and the vehicles were usually noisy tractors or quads, we went into Duns to shop and he ignored cars and walked among crowds with no problems.

All in all Mack was as normal as any dog I’ve met and better than a lot. We are very proud of him and love him even more because he has shown real character and personality.

Last day at the farm

We are leaving the farm today and spending a couple more days in Northumberland on the way south.

Mack has had a great time here and topped it off this morning with a good roll in the frost.

This gorgeous boy is BILL who came to join us on saturday. I first met Bill when I was at Wiccs dogwalking at the weekend and I came round the corner to find him collapsed in a heap and for one awful moment I thought he had died !!! Anyway he was carried back and whisked off to the vets where he was found to have a high temperature and fast heart rate and after medication was allowed back to Wiccs and I offered to take him home.

What a gorgeous boy he is, despite feeling very poorly he just never grumbled at all and really has been a true gentleman.

Yesterday as he returned to the vet for further investigations and was found to have a very large mucky abcess in his tummy, possibly as a result of being castrated a few weeks ago before he came to Wiccs. Since having the abcess drained the change in Bill has been remarkable, he is now wagging his tail, asking for food and wanting to go out for walks. He is bright eyed and taking an interest in everything going on around him. Fingers crossed that he will continue to get better. He is such a sweetheart and a "model" patient , and we are looking forward to getting to know the "real" Bill.

Mack is on holiday

We are having a few days away so have come to Scotland. On the way here we spent 3 days in Northumberland so that Mack could visit what was Luca’s favourite beach, Warkworth dunes.

Mack loved rolling on the sand, and trying to catch Indy.

Now we are at the farm where Indy was born which is in the Lammermuir hills in the borders of Scotland.

Mack loves it in the valley where we park our motorhome as there is a stream to play in and plenty of sticks to steal from Indy.

Mack got on really well with all 7 of the dogs at the farm but did try to grab a duck! Muzzle for Mack when near the ducks in future!

Scarey Pup Paddy

Well the kids doing trick/treat last night didn't linger long at our house as Paddy Pup scared them off with his big ears, tongue hanging out of his snout and some very weird excitable noises !! He really was so funny, anybody would think we had a "monster" instead of a pup. When they saw him they couldn't stop laughing as although he was trying to be scarey his little tail was wagging so much I thought he was going to take off !!! Earlier in the day he had given himself a fright by getting his long snout stuck inside one of Neil's old shoes. I went outside in the garden to see what all the commotion was about and saw poor Paddy lurching around the garden trying to get the shoe off which was quite a snug fit. Of course I was helpless with laughter. Paddy was most put out by the whole incident and gave me one of his "special" Paddy kisses.

Paddy Returns !

A few weeks ago we went on holiday leaving Paddy Pup with my parents where he has had a good time. Wow look at him now !!! He has grown into a stunning young boy. Apparently he was an "angel" , that is if you discount the numerous holes which have appeared in their lawn and the food items pinched off the table, namely butter, garlic bread and a jam donut !!. My parents found Paddy to be very loving, friendly, easy to have around and a very happy boy. He loves to be near to you and is quite content to potter around as well as play games especially football which he excells at. He is so nimble leaving everyone else standing !! He has such a huge personality and still gives wonderful " Paddy special" kisses with that long snout. But he really would like to share these kisses with his new family rather than with his temporary family. If you want someone to make you laugh, have lots of fun with and be a cuddle monster then Paddy is your man !!

Joe Pups Weekend

Joe pup has had a very busy weekend! He has made it his mission to relieve Bob of his ball every playtime. He's so funny as he's almost in hunt mode as he's following him around. To Joe, this is a very important job. He has also met the neighbours dog and has told him all about his life so far by the sound of it.

He is a very easy dog to have around. He just wants hugs, play, food and a place to sleep (a double bed will do nicely thank you). Lovely Joe is sooo handsome, I've posted some photos on the Wiccaweys Facebook page so take a peek.

As I write this post he is currently wrestling with his playmate Will over a yoghurt pot. He is a lot of fun to have around and gets on great with all the dogs here.

A snack for Mack

Mack is still doing really well. There isn't much to update as he is just being a normal dog, he has encountered lots of things and has coped with everything. One great thing that has changed is that when our son arrives, Mack gives a little excited whimper then goes to his bed and waits for Michael to give him sausage. No more barking or nipping just a normal relaxed greeting.

Mack is such a loving, gentle and cuddly boy someone is going to be very lucky when he adopts them. The point of this posting is just so people can see that Mack's longish nose is very useful for reaching yoghurt in the bottom of big pots.

We still hope for a small lottery win so we can move to the country and keep Mack but the next best thing would be for someone to adopt him and stay in touch so we can enjoy his progress. We have a motorhome so we can travel to visit him.

Joe Pups Holiday Exploits

Joe pup has been with us now for a week and he has made himself very much at home. He and Will have been running around playing chase (Joe is always chasing) they love to have a wrestle and play tug with the ball. He can't wait to get out of the back door in the mornings to race down the orchard and wait for the ball games to start. He is so full of fun and as Eleanor has said previously, he has to be 'there' in the centre of everything.

If I'm preparing any food in the kitchen then Joe is there with his huge paws on the surface trying to investigate. Of course I am trying my best to let him know this isn't allowed ;) If me or Dave are on the phone, doing emails, then Joe is there in the middle of whatever is going on.

He loves to watch the Hens...

The other dogs have welcomed him into their pack and are gently ;) letting him know what is and isn't allowed.

Lovely Joe gives the best neck nuzzles, he gets up really close for cuddles and gently pushes his nose right in your neck. He is so affectionate and eager to please. He will be a wonderful addition to any family.

Holiday Homes !!

Well all our bags are packed !!! We are off on holiday but sadly cannot take Paddy and Joe with us so they have both gone off with their suitcases packed to their respective "holiday homes". Paddy has gone to stay with my parents whilst Joe has gone to stay with DJ and her gang.
We have said our goodbyes.......just in case they find their forever homes whilst we are away. They are both lovely pups, very different but great together. Joe just loves to be the centre of attention and has always got his nose into whatever is going on around. He loves to play but he is also learning fast how to behave in the world. The otherday we walked through lots of livestock and scramble bikes and he didn't bat an eyelid.
Paddy just loves to be close to you and have lots of cuddles, although he does love his walks where he can have a good snoop around. He has such a big personality and makes us laugh as he seemingly chuckles and gurgles to himself.
Hope you both behave and enjoy yourselves.

Bye Bye Balck Beauties

WELL DONE LUCY and TOMMY who left us yesterday to begin a new chapter in their lives with their new families. We loved fostering these two as they were two of the best behaved and polite puppies we have ever fostered. Not only that they were so loving and simply adorable.

Magnificent Mack

Mack is having a momentous day today. Indy had to go for his vaccinations today so we took Mack with him so he could be weighed plus expose him to something new. Mack crept into the vets on his belly, he looked like action man or as Julia says "GI Joe"

I weighed him and then he sat in the waiting room for a while just taking it all in. While Indy was being done I took Mack along Northampton road which is very busy and he didn't even look at a car.
On the way home we stopped at a park so Mack could try playing ball, in the past Mack has always become too excited which made him mouthy, today he was on 80 feet of long line and he ran and jumped and played just like a normal dog (of course he is normal just a little special) .

Both boys are pooped and resting 80 feet away.

Mack is very pooped but he wont give up his ball.

We have noticed a lot of changes in Mack in the past couple of weeks, he is a little less bothered by all of the things that bothered him. In the past Mack would get wound up by kids playing football, the sound of a horse and cart that often comes down our street and planes and helicopters, now those things might get a token yap but nothing like before. Mack has been learning to go to his bed when asked and then he would be given sausage, we did this in the hope of having less fuss when visitors come. Last night Our son was visiting when I got back from walking the boys, as soon as we came in Michael told Mack to go to his bed and he did! Michael gave him sausage told him to stay and then went and sat down, Mack stayed until Michael said "OK" What a star.
If Mack keeps improving the way he is he may forget that he was ever scared of the world.

Lucy and Tommy Update

I just cannot believe that neither of these two "black beauties" have been adopted !! Lucy and Tommy are gorgeous pups. They have been so well behaved and polite from the first day of arriving here. They have wonderful temperaments, are very relaxed, laid back and just so happy. They play together, sleep together and seem joined at the hip at times, but they really do need to go their separate ways in life so that their personalities can further develop. They make me laugh as they really swagger about and get very excited when they meet anyone and their little bottoms really wiggle from side to side in such a way that I think they are going to fall over. They would be a lovely addition to any family as they love children.

Baby Joe Update

Baby Joe or "kangaroo" Joe is full of fun and mischief. He doesn't miss a trick !! He is always under my feet because he is so nosey and just has to get on the act. He can open doors, squeeze through the smallest of gaps, manage to get his big feet everywhere and is great fun to have around. Joe is very much a people dog and loves human company. But he also loves playing with the other foster pups and him and Paddy have really bonded together. Compared to the others he is quite clumsy and a bit of a clown. Again a very affectionate boy and he is quick and eager to learn about the world around him, you can see the cogs turning as he tries to make sense of things. Again waiting patiently for his new home.

Paddy Pup Update

Well Paddy Pup is doing well. Everyday he makes us laugh with his antics. He is small and compact, a bit of a "lean machine" , but boy can he run. He is very fast and nimble, running circles around the others and usually weaves in and out of their legs before they have time to realise what he is up to. He has great potential for agility. He can be quite vocal, not yappy or barking but by making all sorts of "contented" chuckling noises and is very affectionate. He gives lovely kisses but because of his longer top jaw he often misjudges the distance and pokes us accidently in our eyes !! He really is a lovely boy and still waiting for his forever home.

"Puppyitis"......is it contagious ?

Every time I see a puppy I just have to take him/her home !! I think it's called "puppyitis" and it may be contagious ....help ! . Well BABY JOE or baby "kangaroo" JOE has arrived. He is so funny and just lumbers around everywhere and is much slower than the others who are running circles around him. Strangely enough new pup "sharky" Paddy has taken a real shine to him and they have become joined at the hip. So it is quite interesting here at the moment as not only are these two best buddies but the two "black beauties" Lucy and Tommy are also joined at the hip !. Mind you they all play happiliy together and then all crash out in a big heap. I caught Joe and Tommy getting to know each other, see bottom pic, puppy love..aah.

Mr Mack is beautiful.

I don't have a good reason to update today other than the boys helped in the garden today, when they rested I took some pictures which I think shows them looking beautiful.
I could push my luck and say Mack has walked very nicely today, I got him an "Easy walk" harness that the lead hooks onto the front of, this turns him to me if he pulls and it worked, NO PULLING.

Mack is having a long and ginger ear day.

Indy is just having a slightly ginger ear day.

I know that there is more to a dog than looks. Mack does look beautiful but the most beautiful thing is if you look at his eyes and then look at the picture in his listing at Wiccaweys.com in the “special case dogs” section you can see his haunted look has gone and he now has something? I just can't come up with a word to describe it soul, spirit, warmth, inner something? you decide.

Someone replied on the Wiccaweys forum saying

“He now looks settled & unafraid thanks to you all”

This comment made me think and I decided that a lot of credit goes to Luca. Luca was calm and confident as well as huggable and loving. Mack has adopted a lot of Luca’s ways including Luca’s favourite habit of recycling, he often picked up a plastic bottle on his walk and carried it until we got home where he dropped it by the bin cupboard. oh, and Luca’s bad habit of eating rabbit poop! :-)

Update... Mack went to the show for a couple of hours today, he was an angel. Mack was calm, polite, sociable and just wonderful. :-)

Mack mingled with dozens of dogs, he met loads of people including a few of his admirers from the blog. Mack even had a couple of children suddenly reach down to stroke him and he just looked up and wagged his tail.

All in all it was very worthwhile going as we got an indication of how he has improved plus it was lovely to see him so happy. :-)

Indy behaved himself as well. :-D

Pup Update

Well these three pups are still waiting patiently for their "forever home", meanwhile we get to enjoy their company, fun games, kissess and cuddles. They are all simply lovely pups. Brother and Sister, Tommy and Lucy are rapidly growing and are such laid back lovable pups with such sweet temperaments. New boy Paddy is turning out to be one "smart" boy, keen and eager to learn and extremely fast on his legs. Again a lovely boy who loves his cuddles.

They really are great, well socialised, happy, scrummy puppies...........but still waiting ?

Gentleman Mack.

Mack has always been a stylish hound, blessed with good looks and magnificent ears! When he makes an effort he can look as good as any gentleman about town.

Mack has been doing well with his lead training, he hardly pulls now, he is very happy to walk on a loose lead even when on the way to the fields if he has something to carry, today it was an empty plastic bottle.

Mack has continued to do well so if the weather is ok he will be popping over to the Wiccaweys show on Sunday.

Paddy Pup

This young pup called Paddy has come to us on foster. He is a really tiny boy with very "sharp" features. He is about 12 to 14 weeks old and had served his time in a dog pound, thankfully Wiccs were able to offer him a space. Goodness knows how/why he ended up in the pound......if only he could talk ! He has only been with us for 24 hrs but he is already turning out to be a character. To him size doesn't matter. He is VERY fast and nimble around the garden and easily out runs the others. He is also capable of scaling the heights of my kitchen cupboards as well as helping to dig the garden !!! He does have a longer top jaw than he should which gives his face an elongated or shark/shrew like appearance and he does have the most beautiful smokey grey eyes. Somehow he has chrmed everyone he meets and is just absolutely adorable. He already loves the two "resident" pups Lucy and Tommy and seems to be part of their gang already.

Mack is making progress

Mack has been doing well recently. We have started to work on his lead walking, Mack walks ok on a harness but has always been distracted by cars and some people and dogs. I have been taking him for loads of short walks without his harness but with loads of little bits of strong cheddar.
Mack has started walking really close, paying attention to me and mostly ignoring distractions. it's early days but if we stick with it he should do well.

If Mack continues being calm I may be brave enough to take him to the Wiccaweys show? I don't want to set him back by him getting hyper excited though, he is going to need his excitement levels kept in check in any new home that he gets.I read recently about a Collie very similar to Mack in temperament, easily excited, nervous, wary of children but a real dream dog when calm (that Collie has recently found a home). Mack is the most magnificent chap when he is calm and that is 99.999% of the time. He is going to be a great companion and friend for some lucky person that's if we don't find a way to get a rural home ourselves first.

I cannot believe that Lucy and Tommy are still waiting for their forever homes !!! I am really struggling to write anything "bad" about them...........in fact I can't, as they are just so good !!. Hard to believe I know, but these two are the best behaved pups that we have ever fostered. They play well together, are quiet overnight, nearly housetrained, well socialised and eat everything offered. They really are joined at the hip and just seem to enjoy being in each others company. Lucy and Tommy are little gems, totally adorable and the closest thing to perfection that there could ever be.

Whilst we love being with them, we really want to see them with families of their own as at the moment somebody somewhere is missing out on these two gorgeous pups, and they will not be pups for long as they are growing fast and are keen to learn and work their charms !!

As mentioned before, Mack is closer to Indy now that Luca has gone.

On shopping days I usually make pizza, the boys were waiting for me to "accidentally" drop some Cheese!
I didn't expect them to hold hands though.
Mack has had a good few days since my last posting, he has walked nicely to the fields and then had fun running with Indy. At home Mack has continued being his old chilled out self, now if we could just teach him not to shout so loud at the doorbell! a few barks to deter miscreants will do.

Sorry for the lack of updates but we have been occupied with making Luca’s last few months enjoyable so haven’t been on the computer much.

Luca crossed the bridge on August the first having defied the vets prognosis by 5 months.

When we go to the fields Mack is on a longline so he often finds odd things to carry. Today I gave Mack a heart shaped low fat treat and he toddled off and came back with a Doctor pepper bottle in his mouth, he shoved the bottle in my hand and I was astonished to find the treat inside the bottle!! The bottle was well squashed so it took some magic to get the treat in.

Mack is still making progress, he has been different since Luca died being much closer to Indy than he was when Luca was here. He is very well behaved these days but still a bit unpredictable with male visitors? He loves for them to come but if they get up and leave the room he appears to forget who they are and shouts at them when they return? (but only sometimes)? Maybe he is a slow learner like me and one day he will just get it? I think we have decided that Mack likes routine, if things change too much it unsettles him for a bit until he gets used to the change. When we have a regular day with his 2 long walks, treats when he returns and bed at the usual time he is just like a "normal dog" He would be happiest in a more rural setting than where we live but there would have to be a calm dog living with him, he only accepted Luca dying because he had Indy to switch his attention to. All in all, Mack is a fantastic dog who is loving, goofy, playful, loyal, sensitive and great fun and every home should have one. We love him. We wouldn't want anyone to avoid adopting him because they think we should keep him, our only thought is what is best for Mack and he would flourish in a more rural setting where he could have somewhere secure to run off lead and become the kind of magnificent companion that we know he will be. We still love him.

These two "black beauties", fluffy bears, alias Tommy and Lucy have come to stay until they find their forever homes. Well what can I say about them ?..........they are simply scrummy. They are polite, well behaved and very quiet!!! . We are not used to this and it seems strange having such quiet pups around......................mind you that could soon change if Auntie Bobbiegobs leads them astray.

Check Out Time !

Well all the hounds have checked out of the "Hound Hotel" !!! I waved off Edmund and Toby today as they left with their new families. Whilst I am really pleased for them I also felt a sense of sadness when Toby left. Its funny how some pups/dogs just get under your skin and Toby is one of those. He had been with us since May and so we have watched his progress, laughed at him and with him, and just loved him. I just wish that I could make him understand that he wasn't being abandoned but going off to start the next chapter of his life with his new mum.
Anyway , I wish all the hounds, Tensing, Sherpa, Edmund, Hilary and Toby lots of fun, games, adventures and hapiness with your new families. You are all such little stars and an absolute pleasure to have around. Take care.

Happenings at the "Hound Hotel"

Well Apollo only checked in for a week! and today it was the turn of Tensing to check out. Have lots of fun and games with your new families, be good boys and don't get started on the garden until your paws are firmly under the table !!

So that still leaves us with gentle giant TOBY. He is such a lovely boy, quite sensitive and a bit of a thinker rather than rushing headlong into things. He is still shy when meeting new people and things but once he has thought about it and weighed the situation up he is great. I've been taking him around all the country parks to get him used to people, children, other dogs etc and he is really growing in confidence. Last week we walked around Abington Park in Northampton and he took no notice of the road traffic and he even did a couple of perfect "sits" when asked to by complete strangers and then very gently took a treat from them. He is a real foodie.

Tonight he watched from the sidelines when my neighbours children were playing with the Beagollies until he could resist no longer and simply had to join in the fun........and what fun he had, as he piched my slippers from the house and ran around the garden with the pups and all of us in hot pursuit BUT Toby has long legs so we had no chance of catching him. This is EDMUND or "fat Ed" as we affectionately call him. I think you can see why ! Just a really happy chilled out pup, who loves to eat and play and eat and play.

Another playful pup SNAZZY SHERPA, he is just gorgeous, just look at those ears. He has a real "beagley" bark, and again is a very happy, laid back boy who loves his games and cuddles.

So half the guests have checked out........just waiting for these to vacate their rooms and begin the next chapter in their lives

Well it didn't take long did it? I had no sooner waved Hilary off with her new family when I felt a tapping on my leg from this little fella. He looked at me with those big brown eyes which seemed to be saying " please can I have Hilarys bed?" How could I refuse ? So he has come to join the rest of them at the "Hound Hotel".

Apollo is a lovely wriggly, creepy boy who somehow manages to climb up our legs and then sit in our pockets !!! He has to be seen to be believed. He is a little unsure as to what he should be doing and is always looking at us as if to say " is this ok?", but the beagollies seem to have taken him under their wing and are showing him the ropes. Watch this space..........

Toby has Butterflies !!!

Not only does TOBY have a good "bird" list , he now has a good "butterfly" list !!!. Today we took him along with us when we went to some woods in the north of the county in search of some particular butterflies which are on the wing at this time.

Well Toby just loves being outdoors so this little outing just suited him down to the ground, he was in his element sniffing around and just lollaping along with us.

He was absolutely entranced by the butterflies and tried his paw at catching them ! Graceful he is not.......he is clumsy, gangly and completely mistimed his jumps and consequently caught none. He looked so funny and certainly amused us all.
Toby really is a clown, he has such a lovely nature. He can still be unsure of new people and surroundings but once he has had time to think about things he is more comfortable. He is quite a sensitive boy, a bit of a thinker. He does seem to think he is a lap dog and loves to sit on our lap where he just wobbles about!!!
Toby may not have much "collie" in him but he has such an endearing personality. He is generally quiet but loves being outdoors. He really comes alive on his walks and just lumbers along, sniffing at all the scents and rolling if he gets the chance. I'm sure that when he is old enough he will make a great running companion and hiking friend. He is also very loyal and just has so much to give.
Toby has already been with us for a couple of months where we have laughed over him and had so much fun with him, but he really needs to get settled in his "forever" home. He has got so much more to give and really he is just starting to enjoy life. I would hate anyone to miss out on this lovely boy simply because he is not collie enough. He is Toby and he is just great.
Fingers and paws crossed that he finds his new home soon.

Toby the Twitcher !

Toby has been "twitching" today !! This morning I was heading to the local country park with Toby to get him used to meeting people when I had a phone call about a "mega" rare bird which had just been located at Daventry. So it was a quick about turn to home to give the beagollies an early lunch and pick up Bazra and Bobbie and off we went to Daventry.
Poor Toby was socialised bigtime as there were nearly 200 folk there already, all rushing about and carrying their tripods etc. However once Toby got over his initial shock he simply settled himself underneath my telescope and tripod and watched all the comings and goings. The only thing that bothered him were all the big camera lenses and he also enjoyed some fuss.
Then Sarah caused chaos by ringing me. All of a sudden this crowd of grown men were drooling over a rare American bird and the next they were sent into a frenzy as an African Fish Eagle called...................yes my ring tone !! Well I was speechless with laughter and nearly wet myself at the sight of all the crowd frantically looking skyward for the Fish Eagle, it was so funny.
Sarah was ringing me about a homecheck which strangley enough was only 5 mins away and may be a potential home for one of my foster hounds........watch this space.
At one point Toby had got this bird on his "list" before his fosterdad !! The bird has since been re identified as a more common species but star of the day was definitely Toby.

Tasty Toby !!

Don't be fooled by this picture of innocence! the brown nose is a bit of a give away, as Toby teaches the Beagollies some gardening skills.
This morning whilst out on our walk he managed to roll in some very runny fox poo and was literally green from head to tail and despite walking him through some long wet grass he was still pretty minging when we got home.
Well what a welcome awaited when we walked into the kitchen ! The Beagollies were very pleased to see their cousin Toby and in fact must have thought it was their birthdays! They just couldn't get enough of Toby, they sniffed him all over, became very vocal with their chorus of very excited barks and then licked him all over. In fact they licked him totally clean and almost licked his spots off!! Toby just laid there and enjoyed every minute of it............I suppose it saved me putting him in the bath.
Who needs TV when you've got these happy hounds around ?

Watch out BEAGOLLIES about !!

These four bundles of mischief have come to stay at the "HOUND HOLIDAY HOME"!!. They are Beagle/Colliex and full of energy. They have only been here for 24 hours and they are still on the go. Definitely not for the faint hearted!!

Bob and Toby think that they are clockwork toys and love to chase them around, Bazra has got the hump and Neil and I are still looking for their "off" switches .

Tired TOBY !

Hello folks its TOBY here ! , clever boy arn't I using the computer whilst foster mum thinks I'm asleep........more likely she's asleep after running about after all us hounds, ha ha.

I've had a very busy day. I'm a bit shy when meeting new people and things so fostermum has been taking me out and about, yesterday it was the country park and today a garden centre. I was a bit bothered about all the people and couldn't work out why they were pushing these big metal wheelie things around full of plants, but I soon forgot to be worried when I started looking at the plants and nibbling the flowerpots !! I was a bit vocal as well but then gave up, I mean whats the point if no one takes any notice, honestly I'd got my bestest bark going !!

Fostermum was looking for a couple of pressies but I spied a whole rack of lovely shoes just waiting for me, yipee, but f/mum spotted me sliding one off the display, spoilsport!.

Then we went to the pets corner, wow there were toys and food everywhere, I couldn't believe it. There were also some nice assistants who fell in love with me. I was a bit shy at first and hid behind f/mum but then these new people sat on the floor and offered me some tasty treats. It took me a while but then I was very brave and went to them where I loved the treats and then gave them all some lovely licks and kisses. They said that I must go back and see them soon.

Then we carried on and I had a good nosey around, so many interesting things at my level and then when f/mum got to the check out I met some more nice people and gave them kisses xx

Then we all had a big treat as f/mum took me, Baz and Bobs into the nearby wood. Baz and Bobs were very excited when they got out of the car and kept going on about "squiggles" and as soon as they were off lead they were gone looking for these elusive things. I don't know what all the fuss is about, I mean all I saw were grey mice with long tails which then seem to disappear into thin air leaving Baz and Bobs looking up at the sky..I mean whats all that about, it was far more fun smelling the ground and trying to follow interesting scents through the wood, but as they say it takes all sorts.

Anyway I've had a good day, and yes I'm beginning to feel a bit tired now,........but whats that I hear ? oh no the Beagollies are awake.......watch this space. F/mum wake up !!

Fudge has a new family !

The gorgeous FUDGE left us today and now has a new family. In fact she has a human brother and sister to play with, so no doubt lots of fun times ahead.

Fudge was an absolute pleasure to foster, such a lovely girl. Well done Fudge.

That just leaves me with her brother Toby. I wondered how he was going to settle tonight but I tucked him up in his bed surrounded by his soft toys for company and so far all is well and he is asleep, bless him.

DOUBLE TROUBLE !!

Well these two, Fudge and Toby continue to stay with us and are growing fast, in fact it is rather like having two "teenagers" around rather than puppies! One minute they are the best of friends and joined at the hip and the next they have a stop and wind each other up....which normally means Fudge starts it then backs off leaving Toby to continue and get into trouble !, typical sister/brother relationship.

Today they have eaten my slippers, dug a few more holes in the lawn, frightened my friends cavalier king charles spaniel by clumsily climbing all over her and finally on our walk tonight they were haveing their game in the brook but decided they would try and drown each other !

I hope they find their forever homes soon as they are ready to move on and get settled, before they get too comfy here.

Jessie causes communication problems !

Jessie has only been here a couple of days and already she has made her mark ! Jessie is VERY quick and VERY bright. My sides are still aching from laughing so much this afternoon, but as yet hubby doesn't see the funny side !. Neil was rolling around on the lawn playing with the pups, and before he knew what was happening Jessie had pinched his mobile phone out of his pocket and legged it around the garden juggling it in her mouth as she did so. Neil gave chase but was hampered by Toby and Fudge who thought it was a great game ........and me ? Well I was just helpless with laughter. When he eventually caught he found that she had severely chomped his phone so it no longer works ! Oops, not so good as he is on call and we haven't got a landline after the other pups ate that in the week !!
I think its time for a lie down. What a madam !!

Jessie Joins the gang !

Don't be fooled by these sweet "angelic" faces of FUDGE and TOBY. They were not too impressed when I arrived home with another pup called Jessie. In fact there was a "stand off" or rather a "yap off" in the kitchen with these two in one corner and new girl Jessie in the other. It was so funny to watch them as they were yapping at each other for all they were worth whilst wagging their little tails. It didn't help matters or noise levels when Auntie Bobbie gave her opinion as well. !! By the end of the evening we both had headaches and Bazra had his suitcase packed.
But today is a whole new day and they are all best of mates and playing racey chasey in the garden and in the kitchen ! This is who caused all the commotion JESSIE a lovely long legged tri coloured girl. Jessie is a very very busy, busy girl. She is extremely smart and needs lots of mental as well as physical exercise. She can be a bit "yappy" but thats because she is keen, excited and just wants to be doing things all the while. She is a great girl who already knows her own mind...........

The pups were rather subdued today as they knew that something was happening ! In fact it was quite eventful taking them back to Wiccs as Toby was rather travel sick so all pups smelling delightful bu the time I got there and then poor lad was sick again on way home so he and Fudge have been in the bath.

Training ? what training ? !!!!

Lead training is going well !!!! Everything is just a huge game and nothing is taken seriously! They are all simply enjoying being pups which to them means eat, pooh, play, eat, more pooh, play again, a liitle sleep, eat again......etc, etc.

But as gorgeous as they are I would really loe to see them adopted soon as they need to get settled with their new families........and wreak havoc there !!

Party Poopers !!!

Yesterday was Auntie Bobbie's birthday so we had a little party for her where family and friends, human and doggy were invited. Initially we were going to have a BBQ but then thought that pups and BBQ was not a good mix so instead settled for a buffet style tea party.

It was all a new experience for the pups as they are just used to Neil and I plus Bobbie and Bazra so when the house was invaded later by new people and dogs I wondered how they would be. Well Poppy and Fudge loved all the extra fuss and attention and soon went around everyone demanding a "belly rub". Toby always has been more reserved and spent most of his time peeping out at everyone from behind my back. He really is quite a sensitive boy and almost seems to be a real "mummy's boy" at the moment. Of course everyone fell in love with the pups and indulged in their fair share of fussing and playing games with them. I'm amazed that the pups didn't mug anyone for food and I have to say they behaved really well. They certainly seemed tired at the end of the evening as the pic shows and we didn't hear a peep out of them all night !

And of course Auntie Bobbie enjoyed her birthday with lots of new toys, a football and plenty of doggy mates to play with. Are we mad or what !!!

Super Pups !!

These three pups are the most "well behaved" and quiet pups that we have ever had the pleasure of fosterering, they are absolutely super. They are quiet overnight, sleep soundly and have been clean. They all have good appetites and no arguements whilst eating. They are simply gorgeous, gorgeous pups and great to have around.
Here is TOBY, a very gentle lad, although he does tend to "worry" about things. He stands quite tall on his back legs so I have to remember to put everything out of his reach! Just don't ask what FUDGE or "butter wouldn't melt " in my mouth, is up to. She is actually helping Neil dismantle some poles in the garden! Fudge can be gobby and likes to get the other two into trouble !!

These are the three new "mischief makers" who have come to stay until they find their forever homes. Even though they have only been here for 24 hours they are already making themselves at home and seem pretty relaxed about everything. They all love their cuddles and will play racey chasey until they can run no more !! very happy pups.

Here is the only boy TOBY, a big lad but very gentle. This teddy bear lookalike is FUDGE, very sweet as her name suggests

This happy girlie is POPPY who has a tendency to pee everwhere as she is so happy!

More Mischief !!

These three lovely pups have come across from Eire with their mum Beth. Now they find themselves at my house ! Their names are Toby, Poppy and Fudge. They arrived back home with me at about 3pm and six hours later they are still charging about in the garden.........so hopefully should sleep well tonight ! The only boy Toby is quite a big lad and seems very gentle, his lookalike sister Poppy is a real cuddle monster, whilst Fudge the other girl is like a fluffy teddy bear. So far they all seem to be really happy, chilled out pups....but this is only day one so anything could happen, watch this space !

BONNIE has been adopted ! It was love at first sight between Bonnie and Ernie, a rather handsome young flat coated retriever. It brought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye as I saw them kissing each other and playing as it reminded me of just how far Bonnie has come and also of the super little cheeky girl who has yet to emerge. All my foster dogs steal a little bit of my heart and Bonnie is no exception.

Mack (Bygraves)

Mack has almost overcome the visitor thing. When our son comes over, Mack sits in the doorway waiting for cheese and doesn’t make a sound. :-) After cheese Mack curls up next to his chair and relaxes.

I was saddened a few days ago when out with Mack, we bumped into a friend who has never met Mack. Our friend was crouched while he fussed Mack and Mack was loving it but when a car approached our friend said he could feel Mack tremble! :-( I knew Mack was never fully relaxed but I had no idea he was still so nervous of cars? To be fair, we were stopped on a narrow path on a road where Mack is more alert to traffic, on a normal walk there are only 2 streets where he is alert to traffic.

Things at home are still good. Mack still has a daily tumble with Luca followed by ten minutes of mutual ear slurping.

Mack is happy to lay under a bush in the garden now that the weather is nice but still gets excited when it is time to go for a walk.

Bonnie and Bobs are at it again !

We had our new garden furniture delivered this morning and it wasn't long before Bonnie and her sidekick "Auntie or should I say Queen Bobbie "were inspecting it and licking their lips !! Bobbie loves to chew and wood is her favourite thing and of course Bonnie is young and impressionable...............need I say more ?. In order to delay the inevitable I put some flowerpots around the chair legs but of course this only served to attract them.

ALL TOO MUCH FOR BOBBIE WHILST BONNIE TUCKS INTO THE FLOWERPOT !

Bonnie has really come out of her shell, she is full of mischief and enjoys life. She seems to be making up for her "lost" puppyhood. This evening she jumped into our pond and swam around before charging around the garden. She loves her walks and gets very excited when I pick up her harness and jumps eagerly into the car. Bonnie can still be nervous around people and it takes her a while to relax when she meets anyone new and she still jumps when she hears loud noises etc. But she has made such progress and I would love to see her settled in a new home where she can continue to grow and flourish.

Bonnie and Bobs, partners in crime !!

I,m afraid that Auntie Bobbie is leading BONNIE astray !! WE have given up on our lawn due to active moles, Bob the digger and now Bonnie, we have no chance. I couldn't believe my eyes this evening as I watched Bonnie dig a fair size hole and then Bobbie carefully placed her football into the hole, before they both stood there admiring their handiwork !!!

Come on BONNIE dig deeper, put your back into it !!!

Water Babe BONNIE

BONNIE has discovered water !!! she absolutely loves splashing around and her little face lights up, and all her worries disappear. She met horses today and sat as they went past her but was not too sure about cyclists. She is getting better when meeting new people as long as they do not smother her. She is such a gorgeous girl and has a super temperament and its such a pleasure to watch her slowly coming out of her shell. Keep it up Bonnie.

Brave BONNIE

Well for someone whose legs wouldn't work a few weeks ago she is certainly making up for lost time. BONNIE is discovering the great outdoors and absolutely loves her walks across the fields. She is on a long training lead which gives her the freedom to run ans she loves it. She has also discovered lots of interesting smells and " unmentionable" things to roll in. I couldn't get her out of the brook where she was paddling, I think she would have stayed there all day.

It is great to see her enjoying herself. However she is still wary of people. Now if we have visitors I ask them to sit on the floor rather than the settee, and after a few strange looks they do just this. In this way Bonnie feels less threatened and after a few minutes of viewing the person with suspicion she gradually edges nearer until she is practically sitting on their laps. Well done Bonnie, you are a brave girl.

She is very good in the house, loves being in the garden but drools when travelling in the car.

She has such an infectious cheeky personality and is an absolute star in the making.

Beautiful Bonnie

This is BONNIE. She came over from Eire in the middle of February. When I first met her she was a very scared little girl who did,nt want anything to do with us and would "shy" away when approached. It took a lot of gentle coaxing to get a lead on but walking was a " no go" and she would flatten herself on the floor and not budge. Bonnie was very wary of people and would cower down expecting to be hit. It really is heartbreaking to see such a young pup affected in this way. Anyway that old Wiccs magic has worked and Bonnie is now enjoying her walks, she is bouncy and loves to play.

Today she drew the short straw and has come home with me. Hopefully we can build her confidence up and show her that life as a young pup is fun ,fun and more fun !!!!!

Well done Daisy, have lots of fun in your new home. Your new mum and dad were totally smitten after meeting you today. You certainly made us laugh and brighten up our day. You may be small in stuture but you have such a wonderful big personality.
I confess that I very nearly failed again as a fosterer and had a tear in my eye as I waved Daisy off...............mind you she wasn't bothered about leaving and simply turned her back and kept her eyes focussed forwards, little minx !.
Good luck crazy Daisy, it was a pleasure to have you stay with us, and already the house seems "empty" without you charging about.

Beach Babe Daisy !!

DAISY has been to the beach !! She had a great time. We went to one of favourite haunts, Holkham and Daisy, Bobbie and Bazra enjoyed miles of glorious empty sandy beach. In fact at times it felt as if we were the only ones left in the world, it was great. The woofs played for hours on the beach and swimming before walking back through the pines. Would you believe it ?........Daisy didn't get up to any mischief !!!!!

Daisy's Day Out

Daisy has had a day out today and has been an absolute star ! We went to a large countryside/game fair at nearby Kelmarsh and took the dogs with us. It was a very big event, lots of people, children, gun dogs, a funfair, trade stalls, bands, medieval jousting and lots of gunshot. Well Daisy just strutted around, her tail wagging and just tok everything in her stride, she wasn't bothered about anything. In fact it took us ages to get anywhere as everyone wanted to say "hello" to Daisy and of course she just loved being the centre of attention. But she did get herself into mischief !.....she tried her paw at shoplifting and pinched a pair of socks off a stall, she then wrestled a large toy dog to the ground and knocked over a whole load of wellies as she tried to play with a jack russell ! There was a dog show and I couldn't resist entering Daisy and her Auntie Bobbie in the "best rescue" class and they came 3rd. Here is proud "fosterdad" with his girls !!! Daisy helps out !!

Daisy has tried to be a very helpful girlie today !!! Firstly this morning she thought that she would clear the table in preparation for me to put down my cup of coffee.........however I ended up wearing my coffee!!. Then it was off to visit my parents and she went to help my Dad in the greenhouse and now all his trays of seedlings have Daisy's "dainty" footprints all over them. This afternoon my brother came over to replace a gate and his face was a picture when he saw Daisy as the last time Daisy was here my brother came to replace some fence panels and Daisy pinched all his tools. Well my brother obviously hasn't learnt and as soon as his back was turned she was pinching his tools and left a trail of them around the garden !!!!! This evening she tried to scare the wheelbarrow off by using her "bestest" voice and then was drinking and dancing in the water as hubby was using the watering can to fill up the bird baths...............so yes Daisy has been very helpful !!!

DYNAMIC DAISY !!!!

DYNAMIC DAISY !!! has returned to Wiccs after things didn't work out for her in her new home, luckily I had a "free" bed so she has come back to me on foster. She has grown a bit since I last saw her but she still whizzes around everywhere like a turbo charged rocket !!!

Daisy is just adorable, she may be small in stuture but she has a HUGE personality, she is quite enchanting and really brightens up our day. Daisy takes a very keen interest in all the sounds and sights going on around her, she is very bright and you can see the cogs going around in her head as she thinks about things. She absolutely adores other dogs and loves to play racey chasey as well as snuggle up afterwards. She loves her "Auntie Bobbie" who does tend to lead her astray...especially where digging in the garden is concerned !!

Daisy really is a gem, never a dull moment when she is around and she really is a little ray of sunshine. Hubby justs thinks she is fab, fab ,fab !!!

Spring is springing

It has been a while since I did a Mack update, we have been overwhelmed lately as Luca is very ill. :-(

Mack is still making progress and is a happy and relaxed boy most of the time. We had a slight setback a couple of months ago, a youth on a bike rode at Mack and got off to meet him, I warned him that Mack is nervous of bikes but he still came at Mack and got his leg nipped! We have met people on bikes many times since and Mack has been fine? I think it was just because the lad rode straight at him?

Mack had been a little unsure of male visitors coming to the house and would bark and growl? recently we have kept cheese in the hall for visitors to give Mack when they come in and he is improving, in fact he appears to like visitors now. He has been fine with women though?

We would love to keep Mack as we really do love him but even after all this time he is still tense when out walking in the neighbourhood, there is just too much going on for him to relax fully. :-(

Mack has been an angel with Luca, he will tumble with him but is gentle when they play. When they finish playing, Mack will spend ages licking Luca’s face and he appears to be aware of the part of Luca’s face which hurts so he avoids it. ( Luca has bone cancer in his frontal sinus)

I will be very happy when Mack gets his forever home as he is a fantastic dog with loads to give to the right person/people, He is a joy to have out on fields where he can run and play, and when he gets home he is happy to flop by your chair just looking up to give the odd lick on your hand. :-)

LASSIE LEAVES FOR A NEW HOME !!

I'm still in a state of shock as I expected Lassie to be with us for a while, so my emotions are all over the place. But we are both so thrilled for Lassie. Although only with us for a week she had made such progress. She was more relaxed in the house and with us both, she tried to play with Bobs and Baz, she looked interested when Neil picked her lead up and said "walkies", she greeted me when I came into the house yesterday and actually wagged her tail. All things which other dogs do without thinking twice about, but, for Lassie huge steps.

Well done Lassie, you are such a brave girl. You are going to have a lovely time in your new home and you have a gorgeous brother Timmy to guide you and play with.

Lassie staged another "sit / lie down " moment on one of our walks today,. I thought we were in for a bit of a wait but she suddenly discovered her legs when Bazra, my collie boy came bounding up to me as he wanted to play. Lassie decided that she wanted to join in !! I don't know who was more surprised, me or Bazra. Also she has jumped into the car quite willingly. In just these two moments I am beginning to see glimpses of that real cheeky girl hidden within her beautiful but sad face. Well done Lassie, you are very brave.

This is the lovely LASSIE who hitched a ride home with me at the weekend. She is a young "Irish" girl who appears to have had a very hard life so far as she has spent most of it shut away in a barn ! As a result she is very nervy and finds everything, including people very scary. Whilst at Wiccs it has been the softly, softly approach as she trusts no one and has no confidence. Sarah and Paul felt that the time was right for Lassie to move on towars the next stage of finding her forever home by going "on foster"......so here she is.

We know that progress will be slow and that we cannot rush Lassie, but we hope that we can enable her to feel more comfotable and show us all what a gorgeous girl there is just waiting to come out.

Lassie knows me well from walking her at Wiccs but is wary of hubby, although she will go to him to take a treat. She has explored the lounge and kitchen and already I've discovered she will thieve anything within her reach !! She is eating well and we are just going on short walks, at a slow pace. On our walk this afternoon she promptly sat down and wouldn't budge for ages, so we just had to wait for her to move. This evening she had an "accident" on the carpet and when I went over to mop it up she scuttled away and cowered down, reall frightened.......it was heartbreaking to see.

So yes a challenge, but not impossible. My aim is to be able to give her enough confidence about herself that she will be able to join me when I go running.......it will take weeks or months but I'm sure we will get there......................watch this space!

Bottoms Up !!

Who do these little bottoms belong to ??
It al went quiet in the garden this afternoon and when I looked round this is what met me..a row of bottoms. They were busy looking through the hedge/fence at a superb phesant who was strutting around.
Annie was adopted at the weekend so that just leaves these three pups who are great fun to have around and they are just playing, eating, poohing, playing, eating and more poohing !!! Here is JOON, still with her pointy crooked ears. She is a busy, busy girl who prefers to be doing stuff rather than have cuddles. I think she would be a good worker.

Then her laid back brother BENNY who does love his cuddles and just enjoys being close to you. He thought he would be helpful today by rearranging the flowerpots !

What can I say about this "little" madam ? ASBO springs to mind !!! This is crazy little DAISY

She is into everything, and is like a turbo charged rocket !! She is a firm favourite of our family and friends BUT do not be fooled by her sweet, cute face, she really is a "naughty" girl and always into mischief. This morning I was trying to load the washing machine but Daisy thought that it was a great game to hang onto the clothes as I was putting them in and then deciding to run around the kitchen with a pair of my knickers on her head !!! Daisy is quite podgy but she manages to squeeze herself through any little gap, will always be in the fridge before I've got the door open and will cause a diversion so that the others can open the stairgate and get into the lounge where they wreak havoc........well Benny and Joon make for the toy box whilst Daisy is busy scouring the carpet for any long lost crumbs !!!

I love them all but crazy Daisy is just such a character . BUT THEY ARE ALL STILL LOOKING FOR NEW FAMILIES TO PLAY WITH AND SHOW THEM JUST HOW CUTE THEY ARE !!

Annie, Daisy, Joon and Benny have spent hours in the garden today playing racey chasey games under the watchful eye of Auntie Bobbie. By the time they had finished the lawn and garden just seemed to merge into one brown muddy bog. Then it all went quiet........they were busy digging holes and were no longer black/white but brown/white !!
JOON has "guilt" written all over her face ! well would you trust anyone with ears like this !

Our fostermum has threatened us with the "sausage factory" !!!! she says we will make lovely little scrummy sausages.........we didn't mean to misbehave today, honest.
Fostermums brother was busy renewing a fence panel when DYNAMO DAISY kept on picking up his gloves and assorted toys and charging around the garden, whilst BRAVE BENNY was egging on JUMPY JOON to get a bit closer and nip his bum !!! Where was ANGELIC ANNIE whilst all this commotion was going on ?? .....sitting by fostermums side watching it all and taking notes !!!!

Fun and games !!

ANNIE was supposed to be keeping an eye on the other three...............BUT she seems to have fallen asleep on the job! Meanwhile dainty little DAISY is wreaking havoc in the kitchen with a roll of kitchen towel. BUT how could DAISY possibly have reached it off the worktop as her legs are so short.........me thinks she had an accomplice in the leggy ANNIE, who is now pretending to be asleep !!!!!!!!!
Where oh where did you get those EARS !!!!! Both JOON and BENNY have incredible sticky up ears at the moment.........and they don't miss a trick, and somehow hear me opening the fridge as quietly as I can and heard a piece of cheese drop onto the floor and had eaten it before I had chance to bend down !!

Here is " trouble" with a capital T . She may be small, look cuddly, have gorgeous melting brown eyes BUT don't be fooled......she is the BOSS and is very busy keeping the others in line but has a knack of starting off mischief and making sure that the others get the blame !!

I wonder what they will get up to next.......watch this space.!!

New Guests have booked in !!!!

These four beauties arrived at Wiccaweys today following their long journey from our rescue friends in Eire. They have enjoyed exploring the garden....or should I say charging around playing racey chasey games turning the lawn into a giant mud slide !!!! Then of course they have paddled about in the kitchen with their muddy paws. They certainly seem to have recovered well from their journey.
Here we have ANNIE, a really creepy girl who just loves to be as close to you as she can possibly get. So far she seems to be attached by velcro to my legs ! Annie has lost part of her tail but it doesn't stop her wagging her "stump" so hard that I think she is going to get airborne.

Next is dainty DAISY, a small stature collie but boy can she move..she is like a rocket, blink and you miss her! Already she seems to be quite a character and has a gorgeous little face.

Finally brother and sister act BENNY and JOON, just lovely happy playful pups

Guess we are going to be busy for a while, looking after, playing with and generally spoiling our latest guests............................hope they have a great time, I know we will for as long or short a time that we have them.

Shiny Happy Macky!

Mack has had a bath! Mack has been bathed before but we did it on the patio with buckets of water. Yesterday we were brave and introduced him to the tub.

Getting him in was like trying to fold wood! he spread his arms and legs and was too wide to get in. :-)

Once he was in the bath he just stood there and didn’t fuss, struggle or move. What a star! He was finished in 5 minutes. Drying him was no problem as he likes being towelled dry as it is like being stroked.

I think you will agree it was worth doing as Mack is lovely and shiny.

Now it’s raining and Mack is going to get muddy again! oh well, we enjoyed him being clean while it lasted. :-)

Today I got an idea of how well Mack is progressing. On our afternoon walk I took Mack on a route he has never been on before, We went up an alley behind a junior school which is narrow, half way up was a council worker picking up trash! The man was large, wearing a high viz jacket and holding a trash picking tool? all things that should spook Mack! When we got level with the worker he spoke!!! He started asking about Mack, after I had explained how nervous Mack is and warned him that Mack may get scared of his tool and trash bag he crouched and offered Mack his hand! Mack went straight to him and sat to be fussed. :-)

I think I witnessed dog and man fall in love? The man couldn’t stop saying how great Mack is and Mack was lapping up the attention, the sad bit was that the man can’t have a dog where he lives. :-(

Mack was an angel, he was either sitting next to me and looking up at me or he was sitting next to the council worker doing the same.

I think that if someone comes to Wiccaweys and meets Mack in a relaxed way as the council worker did and spends time with him without pressure, Mack will win their heart.

I have a feeling that Mack’s time will come soon?

I sure am gonna miss him when he goes.

Mack’s new year

Mack has begun the new year as well as he ended the old one.

Mack is hopeful that his forever people will be found soon so that he can bless other people as much as he has blessed us.

Mack’s behaviour is still good, the naughty boy mouthing antics are very rare and he returns to normal with a gentle word and a stroke to calm him. :-)

Mack loves to go for walks and will spend 10 minutes chuntering and chattering as we get ready to go out! His vocalizations have to be heard to be believed! Mack will happily play with a ball or toy when out, once his excitement level goes down a bit I can even keep all of my fingers intact while picking up the ball. :-)

An evening routine has developed where Mack watches for Julia to go upstairs to watch the bedroom television, once he hears her settle he trots up and curls up next to the bed with his new friend.

All in all, Mack will be a great addition to a home and with a little time and patience will be a fantastic pet and a loving friend.

WELL DONE PATCHEY PUP AND BEAR PUP, BE GOOD IN YOUR NEW HOMES AND HAVE LOTS OF FUN, ADVENTURES AND HAPPY TIMES.
Bear left first after working his charm on a handsome collie called Harvey and they went off absolutely besotted with each other as did his proud new "human " parents.
Patchey left this afternoon with her new "mum" where it sounds as if she is going to be spoilt and enjoy lots of lovely walks. Patchey you are a very special girl and I hope that you will continue to bring love and happiness to everywhere you go.
Bit of a strange day with all sorts of emotions BUT I am so pleased that Bear and Patchey have found their forever homes and wish them lots of love and happy days ahead.

Patchey has a boyfriend !!!!

PATCHEY HAS A BOYFRIEND !!! not that she looks very impressed here ! His name is BEAR and he came over from Eire with his sisters Blondie and Bran who were both adopted today.

BEAR is a big fluffy boy who just demands to be cuddled every 5 mins and is a real foodie. He seems to be happy just " bimbling" around and likes to be close to us. I think he is about 16 weeks old at least and I've already had to move things out reach of those big black paws! I took him for a walk this afternoon along with Patchey pup and my two adult dogs Bazra and Auntie Bobbie and he loved it and walks well on a lead. He even managed a paddle in the brook and nearly managed to roll/eat fox pooh. The look on his face was amazing...he couldn't believe what he had found. Thankfully I saw it first !!

Somehow I don't think that he will be here for long. His Sister BRAN managed just under 24 hours with me before being adopted today. She was certainly my "shortest" stay on foster....I think she was trying to see who had the most sausages on offer as she had spent two nights with Mick and Julia.....she is one smart girl who has left one heartbroken Hubby in her wake !!!

PATCHEY's Magic !!

PATCHEY PUP is all alone !!!! her sister Blaze was adopted at the weekend.

Today she has been out and about with me whilst I was doing a couple of homechecks. On the way home I decided to call into a garden centre for some birdfood and took Patchey in with me.

The result was THE WHOLE GARDEN CENTRE CAME TO A STANDSTILL !!!! everyone fell in love with Patchey and wanted to say hello and consequently she obliged by wiggling her bum, wagging her tail and weeing everywhere with excitement !!! She was an absolute star, however when I got back to the car I realised that I'd forgotten the birdfood !!

Then we went for a short walk in the nearby woods and she continued to work her magic by giving my Mr Grumpy Bazra kisses and he didn't try to eat her !!! She couldn't make out what the small grey toys were with fuffy tails which kept running along the track in front of us !!

Patchey is an absolute gem and it looks like "saving the best till last"

Golden puppy

This isn’t a real foster, just a weekend puppy sitting, Bran still deserves to be an internet star though.

Bran arrived from Eire this week with her brother, Bear and sister, Blondie. Bran was a little nervous and wouldn’t walk but hid in the back of her bed behind the others. :-(

My anti puppy wife (Julia) offered to bring her home to see if she would be more confident after hanging with Luca, Indy and Mack for a few days? She is a lot better. :-)

The puppies have a visitor tomorrow and I am sure that if Bran is not the chosen one there will be a softie of a fosterer that would love to have her for a while.

How could you not love that face?

IT'S A HARD LIFE.......BEING A PUP !!

The girls, Patchey and Blaze have had a busy week and of course were thoroughly spoilt by everyone at Christmas !! They had quite a few pressies and lots of fun and met new people.

They are both growing so much, in fact I'm sure that they are getting bigger everyday !! too many sausages !!. They are certainly far more active and seem to be on the go for hours on end. Today we have been walking them on their leads, which was easier said than done ! Patchey soon got into the swing of things and trotted along very nicely whereas her sister Blaze would dig her heels in and refuse to budge. So there I was on the floor armed with treats and squeaky toys trying to encourage her to walk. It was a bit wasted on her as she refused to budge ! whereas Patchey and Auntie Bobbie thought it was a great game. Then all of a sudden she discovered "her legs" and we were off!.. They are just so funny. This afternoon they have been charging around the garden and then playing in the lounge with Auntie Bobs and I think that between them they must have had all the squeaky toys out and we now have a headache whilst they are crashed out on the settee pushing up the zzzzz's and pushing out the "wind", phew....what have they been eating !! Ha Ha.

Seriously they are both doing great but it would be a wonderful start to the New Year to wave them off to a new home................

Well the girls, PATCHEY and BLAZE have been out partying !!!! they have had a couple of busy days helping me deliver cards and pressies and have been a big hit with all whom they have met

Pass the "Poopie" !

Well the cards are posted, the cake is iced, the tree decorated and still standing and the puppies have fattened up nicely ......perfect for Christmas !!!! We play our own version of " pass the parcel", whereby the parcel is one of the pups. They love to sit on our laps and watch what is going on. What could be better than a cute, snuggly, kissy puppy girl sitting on your lap ??
They are still enjoying themselves and are growing more confident every day, and they are also learning fast which means that we are having fewer accidents in the house as they will go to the door and ask to go out for toilets. Such happy, healthy girls and great fun to have around.
Here we have the unique PATCHEY who is a real cuddle monster, very calm girl

Next we have BLAZE, who is quietly confident, nothing worries her, apart from when she got herself stuck in one of the kitchen cupboards and couldn't get out because her sisters Patchey and Twinkle wouldn't let her............you should have heard the commotion !

Finally Miss "black beauty" alias TWINKLE, the least confident of the girls but getting much braver. In fact she tends to start things off and then run away with such a look on her face which says " nothing to do with me !". Don't be fooled by her. She is just gorgeous, as are all three of them.

These lovely girls are still waiting for their "forever" homes and no doubt some oo even all of them might be with us at Christmas........hopefully Santa will find them, but will YOU ??

One week until Christmas and it looks like Mack will be hanging his stocking at our house?

Mack has continued to be a joy to have around and he even coped with his Golden brother having to spend time at the vets where he had surgery for a mouth and sinus infection. :-( Mack was so welcoming when Luca came home and kept going over to Luca to lick his face. :-)

Mack has decided he likes to share beds now? When something scary is going on like a floor being mopped! He wants to hide behind Luca.

At treat time he shares his bed with Indy, Maybe so he can get some crumbs when Indy has finished? It is good that he is so relaxed when eating though.

The Terrific Trio !

Here are the three remaining gorgeous girls Blaze, Twinkle and Patchey with their Auntie Bobbie. They have all been playing racey chasey games in the garden and now look as if they are waiting for a bus !! I'm afraid that Auntie Bobbie has been teaching them bad habits......digging holes in the lawn !! naughty Bobbie. The girls thought it was great fun. The girls are growing fast and are just so funny to watch. They are lovely and snuggly, just what you need on a cold winters day.......ALL THEY WANT IS A HOME OF THEIR OWN. It would be great to see these girls settled into their new families as soon as possible as they don't stay puppies for long and why should I have all the fun !! ha ha.

Well done SPARKLE and DOTTY !! Both of these beautiful girls went off with their new families today. Have lots of fun and games.

That leaves three other girls still looking for their "forever" homes. The house is certainly quieter this evening. The remaining girls Patchey, Twinkle and Blaze are quite tired after spending the day at Wiccs where they were playing and generally enjoying all the fuss and attention, no doubt they will be back to their normal racey chasey mode tomorrow.

Who needs a television when we have these little "angels" in our midst !! They certainly keep us entertained and right in the comfort of our own kitchen with refreshments close at hand. I am just left with the girls after fuff boy FLASH was adopted over the weekend. Infact my poor husband is feeling very out numbered. The pups have had a great time this afternoon playing football with their "Auntie Bobbie". She is brilliant with the pups and plays with them and mothers them. Anyway the girls were just squealling and yapping with delight as they raced around the garden and played Bobbies version of football. They really do make me laugh with their antics and cheered me up on such a miserable day.

At long last I have managed to get some reasonable pictires of these little monsters ! oops I really mean angels....butter wouldn't melt, ha ha !!
They are still not to sure what to make of the snow. It has been very cold here so they are just going into the garden for short bursts and to eat the cheese I've been putting out for the birds, naughty little poopies !!

All the pups are gorgeous and are doing well. They met Hayley my chief "puppy helper" and although they were shy at first they were soon playing games and enjoying cuddles with her.

These pups are very handy for keeping you warm on a cold day, lovely to snuggle up to !!!! BUT they would love a family of their own to snuggle up to. They are going to be little smashers and I could be in danger of failing again as a fosterer if they are not adopted soon. !!! Eleanor x

Mack loves snow! We don’t have a lot of it but when we go to the fields he runs, rolls and does his own version of snow angels.

The Magnificent Six !

Just a quick update on these gorgeous pups. One of the boys has found a new home already which leaves me with 5 girls and 1 boy. They have settled in really well and keep me busy. The other day they went to the vet for check ups and vaccs and they were so good, no wriggling or crying. They just sat there on the scales as they were weighed and loved all the attention. They were so quiet in the car that I nearly forgot they were there !
They are not sure what to make of the snow. I have tried really hard to get some pictures of them in the snow but with poor success. I have been running around the garden whilst they have all been sitting on the back doorstep trying to get back in the house and the look on their faces !! I can imagine them saying " if you think we are getting our paws wet then you can think again!!! " we don't do snow". Honestly they are so funny. I did try telling them that they are roughy/toughy collies with lovely fur coats but they were not impressed. Youngsters !!!
